- vibration metersWilcoxon Research handheld vibration meter helps find machine faults before they impact operation or cause catastrophic failures, by identifying vibration problems including bearing conditions in early and late stages of failure.
- General purpose
Wilcoxon general purpose accelerometers sense vibration commonly found in most industrial machinery. Applications include monitoring of motors, fans, pumps, moderate speed gearboxes, machine tool spindles and paper machine rolls.
Measurements on these types of machines require a broad frequency range, moderate amplitude range and moderate sensor noise floors.
- Low frequency
Low frequency measurement is critical for many industries. The petrochemical, machine tool and paper industries use low frequency for both condition monitoring and process measurements.
- High frequency
High frequency accelerometers are used on machinery with gear mesh or small bearings, such as high speed machine tool spindles and compressors.
High frequency sensors are available with 100 mV/g or 10 mV/g output sensitivity.
- PiezoVelocity
PiezoVelocity Transducers (PVT®) are solid state piezoelectric velocity measurement devices. Since many vibration analysts prefer to examine vibration signals in terms of velocity (inches per second or ips) to amplify the signal of interest.
- High temperature
Wilcoxon Research offers different options for applications above the normal operating range of industrial accelerometers, greater than 120ºC. The FireFET® series, models 793-6 and 797-6, is designed for continuous operation up to 150ºC.
These sensors are typically used where extra temperature protection is needed, such as the dryer section of a paper machine. - Vibration & temperature
Wilcoxon Research designs a number of sensors which provide more than one output. Wilcoxon has some sensors that provide both a vibration signal and a temperature signal.
These dual output sensors are useful for those situations where users wish to know the temperature of the machine where the vibration is measured. - 4-20 mA sensors
Wilcoxon Research 4-20 mA vibration sensors are an accelerometer and vibration transmitter combined in one rugged industrial housing. They provide a 4-20 mA output signal proportional to the overall vibration level. The 4-20 mA output is commonly accepted by process control systems such as a PLC, DCS or SCADA system for cost-effective continuous vibration monitoring.
- IT intelligent transmitters
IT vibration transmitters convert dynamic sensors’ output to 4-20 mA signal proportional to overall vibration. The 4-20 mA signal interacts directly with a PLC, DCS or SCADA system, allowing to achieve cost-effective monitoring systems. The series includes different products types:
- IT Transmitters

Wilcoxon Vibration Sensing System sales
Vibration sensors are piezoelectric accelerometers employed in the acceleration, speed and displacement detection in industrial or laboratory settings. Given the particular and delicate conditions of use, this kind of sensor must be designed to withstand continuous and even extreme stresses, and it is essential that they are properly calibrated to accurately signal the vibrations.
Applications
There are two essential areas of use for vibration sensors. On the one hand, they play a very important role in process control, in which they offer an accurate monitoring of working conditions, whilst on the other, they are a fundamental tool in predictive maintenance, given that they can distinguish an anomalous vibration on a machine and detect the possibility and cause of a mechanical failure prior to it becoming irremediable.
In addition, there are specialised vibration sensors for detecting seismic events, for helicopters and for a range of extreme conditions such as diving hydrophones.
